Montgomery, Alabama – Tri-Rail System Committee General Chairwoman Erica Ray broke new ground for the ATDA this week, as she participated in the AFL-CIO’s Martin Luther King Jr. Civil and Human Rights Conference. As the organization’s first official liaison to the AFL-CIO for Civil, Human, and Women’s rights, Ray’s efforts represent an important step in the Organization’s efforts to preserve equality among its diverse membership. In the bigger picture, sending Ray to the event signals the ATDA’s support of the AFL-CIO and its affiliate members, in their collective fight for equal rights. Reflecting on the event, Ray said, “What an amazing event it was! With over 800 people in attendance and so many unions. It was an important event for so many to learn the common ground and goals between the Human Rights, Civil Rights, and Workers Rights movements.”
Watch a quick recap of the event here. General Chairwoman Ray can be seen at the 00:17 mark.
